Excerpts From an Abstract Mind by Ewana Hines
When was the last time you read a piece of poetry and thought I felt that? And actually, really felt it?
Not on a superficial level for a few seconds.
The type that almost makes you feel uncomfortable because the words ring very true.
Not all poetry is like that, I am aware.
Poetry can come packaged in various forms.
We have the deplorably cheesy.
Written by love-struck high schoolers.
A cliché that proves to be self-evident with every passing generation.
We also have the type of poetry that has inspired generations and started revolutions.
From Excerpts of an Abstract Mind, I offer neither.
See, in this book, I offer not the revolutionary or deplorable.
I simply offer my perspective based on real experiences.
Remember that question I asked in the beginning.
That’s what I’m offering.
The unique experiences in our lives shape who we are.
But despite that, our truths and that which makes us “tick” are more common than most know.
Through my poems, I offer my life’s experiences.
Traversing that which divides.
Finding answers to the big questions in life.
And a journey towards finding the real definition of love.
The beautiful thing with poetry is how different people find different meanings for the same poem.
So maybe my words become cheesy to one and revolutionary to the next.
I would love to share with the world what I have learned and been through.
I would love to share with you what I have learned and been through.
